Beginner Mountain Bike Obstacles

It is no surprise the sport of mountain biking has been gaining popularity over the past few years. There is no better way to get out and enjoy nature, spend time with friends, while also getting a great workout and having tons of fun!

The only downside is beginners may face obstacles to get into the sport. Mountain bikes can be expensive, you might not know what trails to ride or maybe there is nobody to go biking with. Don’t let these things stop you from getting into mountain biking, they are not a problem!

This article will explain some solutions to these beginner mountain bike obstacles so you can go out and enjoy the many pleasures of mountain biking.

Getting a bike

With the growing interest in mountain biking, so too has the variety of mountain bikes grown. If you are just starting out, don’t get caught up in all the fancy mountain bike offerings out there. Before investing lots of time and money it is more important to figure out what type of riding you like. You can easily get started with an old bike laying around in your garage or find a cheap used mountain bike online at Kijiji bike or pinkbike. Once you have a bike you are good to go and will be able to ride most trails now. If money isn’t a problem and you can’t decide on what bike to get, just go with whatever hardtail mountain bike interests you. Hardtails are the most versatile bikes for beginners as they are effective for most of the riding you will try and help build up your skills more than something like a full suspension bike.

Mountain Bike Trails

Finding out where to start mountain biking may be difficult with little to no experience. When researching what mountain bike trails to start on, it may be difficult to find trails that are nearby, or it may be hard to find trails that aren’t too difficult or suited for your bike. An easy way to find mountain bike trails near you is to check on Trailforks. If you can’t find any trails nearby online and don’t want to take a trip out to the nearest bike park don’t worry. If there is a forest nearby, most likely there will also be walking and or mountain bike trails in it. When you do find a trail, just make sure you check it before riding to avoid any unwanted surprises (there could be a cliff!). If possible, you can also find someone who know the trails or area that can help you with this.

Who to bike with?

If you don’t have a friend to bike with do not let that stop, you from getting into the sport. There are lots of people who bike alone and if that is not your thing, you will find others to bike with just by getting out and biking. Maybe only nice people mountain bike, or mountain biking makes you a nice person, but mountain biking is one of the best ways to meet new people and make new friends. Mountain bikers are always excited to ride with others and talk about the sport.

Now what are you waiting for, get out and ride!
